Shifting Gears: Automotive Technician Training Program

August 4th, 2014 by

General Motors has always had a strong commitment to our Veterans from having the most generous military discount in the automotive industry to the charitable giving to organizations through the GM Foundations. Recently, that commitment was expanded through a new partnership between General Motors and Raytheon Company. This new program is known as Shifting Gears.

The multi-year partnership will provide a way to transition Army Soldiers who have technical skills to GM Certified Technicians. It will consist of a 12 week course done on base at Fort Hood, Texas and will include classroom, online and hands-on training from Raytheon Professional Services. The General Motors Service Technical College will be providing free access to their online training programs as well.

Once the program is successfully completed the veterans will receive career counseling, job placement recommendations and access to GM technician employment opportunities.
